In the heart of a world between worlds, where universes overlap and time doesn’t mean a damn thing, there's Ḑ̶̢̢̫̖̙̘̰͋̎͜͝e̴̡͙͎͆̋̃ͅa̵̛̙̠͚͓̹̼̺̩͋͑̈͜͞ṫ̵͍̤̙͙͓̺̹h̸̛͙̣̭͆͝ͅ Arena. Hardly anyone knows about it, but everyone feels it. It isn’t some shining coliseum in the clouds or some divine battlefield for gods. Nah, it looks more like a leftover ruin from a world long gone. Cracked stone, rusted gates that sound like they're in pain every time they open. And when they do open, anything can walk through. Anything at all.

But what really messes with people isn’t the magic or the mystery. It’s how normal the place feels once you're inside. Like some rundown fight club tucked away in a back alley. Rough seats, worn walls, a crowd screaming for blood. Except here? The fighters aren’t just locals or thugs. You’ve got legends from forgotten realms. Fictional heroes. Random people pulled straight from grocery stores and office jobs. All shoved into the Arena without warning, forced to fight like their lives depend on it—because they do.

Some of them think they were chosen for greatness. Most figure out pretty quick that this is all just some cruel joke the universe is playing.

And up there in the booth, looking down over it all, is Arif. People call him “The Reaper,” but don’t expect some hooded figure swinging a scythe. Arif’s more like a twisted sports commentator, voice smooth as velvet, sharp as glass. He doesn’t just narrate the fights. He knows them. He’ll call out your next move before you even make it. Point out when you’re two seconds from death. He doesn't gloat. He just knows, and somehow that’s worse.

Lose a fight in Ḑ̶̢̢̫̖̙̘̰͋̎͜͝e̴̡͙͎͆̋̃ͅa̵̛̙̠͚͓̹̼̺̩͋͑̈͜͞ṫ̵͍̤̙͙͓̺̹h̸̛͙̣̭͆͝ͅ Arena, and that's it. No second chance. No noble end. When the match is over, Arif comes down from his perch. Tall, slow-moving, a shadow that feels too heavy. He doesn’t say much. Doesn’t need to. Just flicks his hand and whoosh—your soul gets pulled into him, like smoke into a vacuum. It feeds the Arena. Keeps the machine going. It’s not personal. It’s just... the rules.

And here's the catch. Your body disappears, sure, but your soul? Still stuck. Locked into the Arena forever. It waits in the shadows until it's yanked back for the next fight. Every return is different. Maybe you come back stronger. Maybe you're broken beyond repair. Either way, the Arena isn’t done with you.

A few manage to win. Again and again. They get a rep. A little bit of fame. The crowd chants their names. But no one—no one—gets out.

And Arif, word is he was once a fighter too. The best. The kind of guy whose name echoed through dimensions. But the endless killing wore him down. So he stepped out of the ring and into the box. Took on the job of the Reaper. Now he devours the fallen, keeps the Arena running, and lives forever. Or something like it.

The scariest part about Ḑ̶̢̢̫̖̙̘̰͋̎͜͝e̴̡͙͎͆̋̃ͅa̵̛̙̠͚͓̹̼̺̩͋͑̈͜͞ṫ̵͍̤̙͙͓̺̹h̸̛͙̣̭͆͝ͅ Arena? It could show up anywhere. Doesn’t matter who you are or what you’re doing. One second you're living your life, and the next, you're in the pit, dirt in your mouth, blood on your hands, and Arif's voice in your head.
